Deepika Raman

Project Lead, MeitY Project on Data and AI

Deepika is keen on working at the nexus of digital transformation and good governance in launching and scaling robust social innovations. With her natural flair for technology she worked in product management, where through the philosophy of ‘human centered design’ and the tools of Lean Six Sigma she was able to enhance user experience via intuitive feature launches. Apart from this, she has volunteered and conducted research studies in the fields of education, healthcare, gender and sustainability and is passionate about intersectional approaches to tech policy that is centered around bridging the digital divide by enabling agency and ensuring democratic access to services for historically marginalized communities

As a biomedical engineer, Deepika has been trained in interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving alongside exploring the organizational and technological structures of health systems. At the Young India Fellowship, she learnt to analyze and empathize with realities that lay outside her lived experiences and developed a well-rounded approach to bridging the gap between design and impact.

At IIC, she worked with NITI Aayog on the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) and is now part of the team at the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) working on the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence. Here she leads the efforts in streamlining access to open data through advocacy and institutional interventions as well as embedding Responsible AI principles in public sector deployment of AI use cases.
