Project Associate, NITI Aayog Education Project
Nikunj endeavors to leverage collective and adaptive leadership with a personal vision of eliminating educational inequity in India. He began his journey in the development space as a fellow for Teach for India in 2015. He taught 96 students of 7th grade in a government school classroom in an urban slum Sangam Vihar for two years. The experience gave him a glimpse of the complex challenges prevailing in the education system. He was promoted to the position of Program Manager in 2017 and managed 16 Teach for India fellows inculcating a culture of approaching problem-solving through the grassroots-driven strategy. He initiated various interventions within the local community during his course of engagement at Teach for India and got nominated for Teach for India's Transformational Impact Journey '17. The experience further led him to co-found Odyssey, an organization devoted to the development of interventions aimed at identifying and amplifying bright-spots in urban slums. He's looking forward to deepening his understanding of development challenges and creating enduring social impact while working with the government.
